    The Bright Futures USA staff consists of a tight-knit group of professionals who possess diverse backgrounds and a passion to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to thrive and prosper.

    Kim Vann
    Executive Director

    Kim joined Bright Futures USA in February 2011 and currently serves full-time as the Executive Director. In this position she works collaboratively with the board of directors, staff, strategic partners, and communities across the United States.  Kim ensures Bright Futures USA remains effective by providing strategic, operational, and inspirational leadership that is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and core beliefs of the organization.

    Prior to accepting this position, Kim worked for Joplin Schools, serving as the Executive Director of Communication and Community Development where she was responsible for overseeing district communication, district development efforts, community engagement efforts, and the Bright Futures Joplin program. Prior to that she worked as the Business Development Director for the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce where she was responsible for advocating for small business and acted as the liaison between the Chamber’s small business Members and Chamber leadership. Kim was responsible for many programs and services that served the Chamber Membership. Kim sat on the US Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council for four years and also served on the American Chamber of Commerce Small Business Advisory Council.

    She is a past President of Soroptimist International of Joplin.  Kim has been honored with many awards over the years including one of Joplin Tri-State Business Journal’s 2007 “10 Most Influential Women”, Joplin Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, and Joplin’s 15 People to Watch.  Kim is married to Joel and they have two children.  They are members of College Heights Christian Church.

    Creative Services Intern

    Gabby joined the Bright Futures USA team in May 2016 part-time as the Creative Services Intern. Gabby’s responsibilities include supporting concept development, design and production of various print and digital materials, editing and developing photos, and developing social media graphics that can be utilized by affiliate communities.

    She is currently attending Missouri State University, pursuing a degree in Photography with minors in Advertising and Promotion and Art History. She has a background in design, marketing, and nonprofit business. She is proud to call Mexico, Missouri home and enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and staying active in the community any chance she gets. She looks forward to combining her passions for design and nonprofit business to help Bright Futures USA and its affiliate communities.
